TWIN TOWERS STEEL ESCORT
TO FREEPORT, MAINE
SATURDAY MAY 21, 2011


Location - Kittery Trading Post, Route 1 Kittery, Maine
Staging Time: 8:30am
Safety Briefing: 9:15am
Depart: 9:30am


This mission will involve escorting a convoy of The Maine State National Guard vehicles which will be carrying steel taken from the World Trade Center to Freeport, Maine where the steel will be used to construct a memorial to the victims of 9/11/2001. The escort body will be made up of Veterans motorcycle groups from throughout the State of Maine.
John O'Leary, a senior ride captain with the Patriot Guard Riders, will be coordinating the convoy escort lineup at the Kittery Trading Post.

The convoy will travel on route 1 and will be assisted by law enforcement officials. It is expected to arrive in Freeport, Maine at approximately 11:30am. Destination will be the Public Safety Building in Freeport. The convoy will be met by two Freeport Fire Department ladder trucks with ladders fully extended. Draped between the ladders will be a Battalion Flag from the Brunswick Naval Air Station. The convoy will also be met by color guards from the Freeport Fire Department and the Freeport Police Department.

Ceremony will begin at this location at 12:30. Speakers are:
1) Master of Freeport Lodge No. 23, Master Paul Lowe
2) The Honorable Senator Olympia Snowe
3) The Honorable Senator Susan Collins
4) Other speakers to be announced

Lunch will be available for a small fee to all convoy participants. First responders participating in the escort will not be charged for lunch. Lunch will be available at the Harraseeket Grange Hall, Elm Street, Freeport. Serving begins at 1:30pm.

Location: Harraseek Grange Hall, Freeport - 9am to 4pm, static display of memorabilia collected over the years by the Freeport Flag Ladies.
